Product Description
Recommended industries: Construction, general manufacturing, oil and gas, transportation. IDLH stands for Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health. It is a term used in occupational safety and health to describe a concentration of a chemical or gas in the air that is so high that it poses an immediate and severe risk of death or permanent health effects.
IDLH values are established by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). They are used to determine the maximum safe exposure level for a substance in the workplace. If a substance has an IDLH value, workers must wear respirators or other protective equipment to avoid exposure.
Example: The IDLH value for carbon monoxide is 1200 parts per million (ppm). This means that if a worker is exposed to carbon monoxide at a concentration of 1200 ppm or higher, they are at immediate risk of death or serious health problems.
